This mosaic would have been part of the first 2020 group exhibition with the Northwest Mosaic Artist Alliance at The Washington Center for Performing Arts for the month of June, but concerns about Covid19 are keeping the Center closed this summer. So, I’m going to list the work I had made for this exhibition, trusting that I’ll make new work this summer that will be included in our fall (Port Townsend, WA) and winter (Lincoln City, OR) exhibitions.
I made this dahlia mosaic last summer (2019) while on vacation with my family. I packed the reclaimed cupboard door demo, scrap glass in yellow and orange, and some glue, and I worked on the patio of a lakeside cabin. Of course, it wasn’t finished when I left, but took another 2 weeks at home to finish.
Every part of this mosaic is reclaimed (well, except for the glue.) I used only scrap glass and the base is an example you would find at a building center, where you choose your cabinet style. It is not grouted. Fitted with D-rings and wire, ready for hanging. 14″ x 14″.
