Several designs were presented to the Birchwood Neighborhood in Bellingham, WA, and one was selected by popular vote. However, a second design was created to match the first, so a set of mosaic sidewalk inlays is now installed, both mandala designs made of glass tile depicting Pacific NW species. One mosaic, near Shuksan Middle School on Maplewood Avenue features otters, eagles, sword ferns and Maple Trees in fall color. The other is close to Birchwood Avenue and features salmon, herons, skunk cabbage and Birch trees. Each is 4′ 8″ in diameter.
