This is based on the cute character that Meta created to represent their generative A.I. There are people handing over all of there private data to this agent so it can run their lives for them.

Soft-Quitting Meta

Some of you have signed up here recently because of my announcement on facebook that I’m deleting my business page. I’ve had conflicted feelings about facebook over the years, but that’s where I have the strongest following and the most engagement and I didn’t want to lose that audience. I don’t know of any other method of keeping followers updated that is as effective.

However, Meta recently made changes to its policies that I can’t abide. They tried to sneak it in under the radar, but users took note and made a big ol’ stink, so they have postponed the change to November 20, 2026. This gives me 3 weeks to let everyone know that I’ll be deleting my JKMosaic page. Here’s the gist:

This policy applies to content creators, i.e. anyone with a professional page. At this point in time, personal pages are not included. Meta will begin “scraping” or harvesting content from all public pages for use by its generative A.I., as well as any linked pages. In other words, it not only has implicit permission to absorb your original art, writing and ideas into its database, it can take what it wants from any site you link to from the page. This includes your website, and from what I’ve read, it can include sites with paywalls.

On one hand, I feel like any effort to fight this is a lost cause at this time because the current administration canceled all efforts to analyze and regulate A.I. development and use, and it appears we are hurtling forward without guardrails. I’ve been going through my accounts, changing data sharing settings from the default “share with A.I.” to blocking it. But for instance, I think Pinterest is a free-for-all. So, maybe this is a futile effort, but I am just getting worn out by all of it. I’ve had the strong urge to just unplug from the online world and go back to being a hermit out here in the woods like it’s 1980.

But I would miss everyone. Social media led to so many great connections, opportunities and experiences. It’s a shame that it has become so toxic in recent years. I barely engage with facebook anymore because my feed is filled with ads, suggested accounts I don’t follow, and A.I. posts. Maybe one in ten is from someone I know. Instagram is better, but the same policy applies. It includes Threads and Whatsapp as well. Note: The E.U. has implemented protections for their citizens, so these changes might not affect you. (It also goes to show that governments can choose to take action.)

So, in light of these changes, I’m so glad you are here! I’ll use my website blog more often. I’ve been sending a newsletter about once per month, and I might increase the frequency. I welcome your feedback on this. I know my inbox is beyond capacity and I don’t want to be a pest to you.

For now, I’m most active at patreon.com/jkmosaic. I also post on Substack. My personal instagram account is now called @JennKuhnsWasHere and I’ll add art stuff to that going forward. It will be nice to simplify, actually.

One more thing facebook has done is to limit links to two per month. Apparently, that is ANY link, even linking to something else on fb. I tried to tag another account in a post and this error message prevented me from posting until I removed the tag:

They are trying to strong-arm users into upgrading. It seems the 12 people in possession of more wealth than half of humanity want more and more and more. Ah well, so it goes.

There’s a Marvel character named Muse that is a murderous villain. Meta’s Muse is a little monchichi-looking designed to be as cute as possible. I combined them. But I suppose this is only for a very niche audience.
