Well, the mosaic panels are all installed, anyway. I will need to caulk where the grout meets wood trim and paint the wood sections when weather permits this spring, but I’m happy to have it looking relatively complete and welcoming to visitors. This is the main thing you see when you pull into our driveway, so it felt important to get this wall done. There are still each of the sides left as just concrete board.
The double direct method that I use, applying mosaic to fiberglass mesh in sections, allows me to create sections over winter, store them, and install them when it is dry and mild. *I’ll be teaching this technique three times during spring of 2020. The first of these workshops will be March 7-8 at Santa Barbara School of Mosaic Arts. I’ll teach it twice in Las Vegas the first week of April, but registration isn’t open yet. The third time is confirmed, but I can’t announce it yet, but I’ll post it as soon as it goes public.
