Hand-cut stained glass mosaic reflecting my Baltic heritage

I dedicated the month of September to a big change; moving out of my lovely little garden studio, which I handed over to my 16-year-old as her new bedroom, and consolidating everything into my other studio. This is the original space we framed in and sheetrocked back in about 2005. It’s 20′ x 20′ with 11′ ceilings, so it is nice and spacious, but it is also very hard to heat, and has a lot of leaks to the outdoors that has allowed the weather to creep in through winter. I share the studio with spiders and slugs, and an occasional lizard, along with my 3 cats.

So, a few years ago, we added a foyer to the front, to help protect against the weather and to have a little gallery space in the entryway. It’s still unfinished, but it is definitely helping to keep the wind and rain at bay. We’ve done some work tightening up and filling gaps, my husband replaced a leaky section of roofing, and I completely re-organized and cleaned last month. It’s not done yet, but I’ve made a lot of progress. I had hoped to complete the mosaic facade on the front of the foyer by October, so I’m quite a bit behind, but I did install the last large panel two days ago, leaving only some smaller areas to fill in.

I’m looking forward to getting all of this work done, and I’m hoping to hold an open house in the spring. In the meantime, I welcome visitors by appointment, if you don’t mind a bit of chaos.
