Last week, I finished the 3′ x 5′ center section of the Westport mural, then took it out into the sun to snap a photo.
About half of the 12″ outside squares were fabricated during a community event at Stitches, and I’ve been adjusting, cleaning and pre-grouting those squares. In the meantime, we’ve passed the halfway mark to the fundraising goal, and I’ve gotten started on my big public art commission that has a June deadline. With all of the bad news out there, combined with being a bit in over my head work-wise, I’ve had a hard time asking for donations.
But, to put the project into context, the completed section is 15 s.f. The outside squares are 20 s.f., yet to be completed. Then comes the installation and creation of a donor plaque. I really can’t finish this without crowd-funding more financial support. If you are connected to Westport or Grays Harbor County, or just supportive of community-made public art, please share the Go Fund Me link with friends and let them know that small amounts are very welcome. Feel free to take up a collection or have a day where your business fundraises for this project. I’ll try to get some flyers made that you can print and share.
I am really looking forward to seeing this mural sparkling out over the port in Westport!
