Description
This is one of a series of pieces made in this design style, using many quadrangles to form intersecting circles. With this 30″ x 6″ piece, I used all white (and off-white) materials from many sources. Most are tiles removed from salvaged tile display boards. The surface is highly textured and the pieces are tightly placed, not grouted. The substrate is a piece of scrap Wedi (foam core tile board), so the entire artwork is upcycled.
This series has been emerging very slowly, between commissions. It’s a meditative process, fitting the pieces together to create bubbles or spheres that feel like floating and, to me, like thinking. This particular piece has been featured in a number of exhibitions nationwide, from Orlando, FL to Ashland, OR.
