During summer of 2019, Arbutus Folk School and I facilitated a participatory mosaic project at the new Plum Street Village, a small complex of tiny homes in Olympia. Participants included residents and neighbors over 3 days, with each person creating a little house to fit into the design, quilting style. The project was funded by a grant from the City of Olympia and we collaborated with staff at the Village and LIHI (Low Income Housing Institute.) Further support came from Maryland Mosaic, Laticrete, and Matchless Brewing, along with small donations from individuals. The project was installed on the exterior wall of the main office in the Village with a small celebration with representatives of the organizations involved, and many residents.
