If you are looking for supplies to make your own mosaic at home, or you are taking one of my workshops and want to supplement the supply kit, here is a list of some of the wonderful mosaic suppliers I work with:
- Wits End Mosaic: Wits End has a variety of tiles and smalti, as well as substrates and tools. If you are purchasing supplies for one of my courses, contact me for a discount code. Kim at Wits End has been a vital supporter of the mosaic artist community, giving generously to the Society of American Mosaic Artists, and donating to my own community projects. Wits End is a family business of really good people. That is where I get my Sweetie Matte Glass Tiles:
2. Maryland Mosaic: I buy a lot of my colorful recycled glass tiles here. The prices are very competitive and I’m amazed how fast my orders arrive.
3. Mosaic Art Supply: I used Mosaic Art Supply to purchase the stone I used for my L’Occitane terrazzo floor inserts. I don’t know of any other source for the small, tumbled, square marble tiles they have.
4. Kismet Mosaic: This is another great resource for tiles and stained glass.
5. Tiny Tile Mosaic: They supply small format tiles for micro mosaic, and also beautiful wood bases, as well as special shapes that are hard to find elsewhere, especially some really great wood pendant trays and other shapes. Oh, they also sell kits to make mosaic on rocks with affirmations, and they encourage leaving these for people to find. It’s so sweet!
6. NW Art Glass: This is where I purchase stained glass when I need specific colors for a commission. I love these guys, and my favorite thing is that they have a large room of scraps and seconds. They are currently shipping and doing curbside pick-up, and I encourage you to let them know I sent you. Missy has organized and taken my workshops there, so she knows about the needs of mosaic artists. (Located in Redmond, WA.)
7. Roses Glassworks: I purchased glass from Rose’s one time because I was in Tigard and wanted to check it out. It was a good selection and fairly priced. I don’t know if they ship, but if you are in the Portland area, I recommend them. They do have limited open hours during this pandemic.
8. Delphi Glass: These guys will not feature my art on their website no matter how hard I try, but I still am gonna recommend them because they are a good source for stained glass, particularly if you need it shipped to you. They know how to pack and ship it well and have the best selection you can get online, with the clearest purchasing options. They make it easy to get what you need.
9. Luna Mosaic Arts: Luna has a teaching studio with a visiting instructor series, and also sells a range of supplies. Located in Orlando, FL, and the epicenter of the creation of the Orlando Diversity Mural.
If I missed anyone, send me a note!
