The sculptures, propped up in my yard.

Over the past 9 months, I’ve been working with the Edmonds Floretum Garden Club to develop a design, have it approved by multiple committees, and finally to fabricate this set of 3 sculptures to celebrate the club’s centennial. The artwork is a collaboration with metal artist Abe Singer, who helped with the engineering as well as forging the metal frames. The three sculptures each have 3 “petals” and each set features a mosaic vignette with a different garden-centered theme. For instance, in the above photo, right to left, are: Pollination, Photosynthesis and Climbing. Other themes are: Pond, Flowing Water, Night Garden, Food Garden, Zen Garden and Shade Garden.

This project was a bit of a marathon, but stands as one of my favorites so far because I love collaborations, bright colors, nature themes, and being able to really inhabit my own personal style and approach. The Garden Club committee was wonderful about giving me artistic license to follow my instincts and create something that is true to me and will be a wonderful addition to my portfolio.

The dedication for this project will take place on August 15 at 1:30pm in downtown Edmonds. I’ll update with the exact intersection closer to the date, in case anyone wants to come celebrate with us. At that time, the artwork will be donated to the Edmonds Arts Commission for permanent collection.

Here is a short video I made walking around all of the sculptures: https://youtube.com/shorts/ykzMjqkJRG0?feature=share
