The 2026 CMA2 Conference will take place in Albuquerque, NM on March 4-8. For registration information, go to: Contemporary Mosaic Art 2

I am honored to be leading the community project during the conference, which will be donated to the Albuquerque Sign Language Academy. The design will be a set of giant hands reaching sideways on the wall behind the reception desk:

We are relying on donations for materials, so this will be mixed media, incorporating whatever we can get, hopefully within the color families of turquoise, green, and orange. The project will be fabricated within 3 days of the conference; very ambitious and a little bit terrifying! Here is a link to more information about the project and ASLA: Contemporary Mosaic Art 2

If you are a vendor, supplier, or someone with extra materials to contribute, please get in touch. Also, if you are interested in volunteering, I will need all the help I can get. Plus, I will need breaks.

I will also be part of a panel discussion on Saturday focused on mosaic business and community building.

My first mosaic conference was in 2009, a Society of American Mosaics summit that took place in San Diego. It is a big investment to fly to another city, plus hotel and conference fee. But it was such an amazing, mind-blowing experience that I have made it a priority to attend as often as possible. I am certain I would not be a full-time mosaic artist if not for the resources, support and inspiration I gained from intensively communing with other mosaic geeks. Most years, I have not taken workshops, but I benefitted greatly from activities included in the basic fee like seminars, panel discussions and presentations. Working alongside more experienced artists in the community mosaic room was an invaluable learning opportunity. Viewing the exhibition in real life is completely different from seeing it online. So, if you are able to go, I urge you to take the leap. And if you can extend your trip and see more of the area, it is a magical place. It’s my second favorite part of the U.S.

I hope to see you in Albuquerque!
