- Volunteers working tirelessly to help fill in the mosaic. The first two sections of the community mosaic are grouted and completed.
The public came down to Olympia’s Artesian Well during Arts Walk weekend (Saturday & Sunday, April 28 & 29 noon-4pm) and created mosaic fish that are being incorporated into the new mosaic artwork. Over 200 people participated in the project, which was a huge success! Now, I am working most days to transfer all of the fish to the concrete forms surrounding the well, creating a colorful, permanent celebration of Olympia’s treasured Artesian Well.
This mosaic will be made of materials donated by the community and will create visual interest for visitors to the Artesian Well for generations to come. The project was facilitated by Jennifer Kuhns with extra guidance from volunteers.
Funding for the project was provided by Olympia’s PBIA, a collection of downtown businesses. Additional support came from Furniture Works, Vic’s Pizza, Grocery Outlet, Spectrum Glass Company, and Laticrete. Special thanks to Frank Lynam of Pacific Ceramic Tile and Jeannie Edmonds for donating large quantities of quality materials.
